Like the deals. Love the terms on every player. We'll see what latta brings even though to me he's like a Nolan 2.0.... TRADE king! I can't wait another year to see him do nothing on the ice. I want him gone now .... I do like that Trotman signing. If he works out give him a 3-4yr deal.

But he doesn't do "nothing" out there... he's a solid grinder bottom 6 role player who can move up for a spell. I just don't get the King hate. Also, I cant say I've seen too much Latta but I think he's an upgrade over Nolan. Aside from his agitator/risky hits role, I'm not sure what Nolan brings.

I never understood LA's logic in trying to turn crap into diamonds, it's never worked.

Most of LA's depth talent is homegrown. They rarely go the route of free agent fill ins.

He had an off year last year. But when he's on he is decent. I like King. And so does DS so that means he brings something to the table maybe not everyone can see.

I dont think you can compare Nolan and Latta. Nolan is just a banger. While Latta should be a player who can make plays defensively. I like the signing. I just kind of wish we could have taken a risk on some of these buy out guys. Or guys trying to prove themselves.

That's why Nolan 2.0 was added. He does do a little bit more than what Nolan brings. I like the signing

Lucic to EDM 7/$42M.....Normally I laugh when a player takes big bucks to join a crappy team and talks about being part of taking that team to the next level, but if Connor McDavid continues to progess, the Oilers might be ready to emerge from the darkness soon.....at some point, all that talent will eventually form a team in spite of itself.

Don't blame Lucic for taking the deal, although the last couple years could be painful for the Oil.....good luck to Milan.

Like the Kings depth signings....it's now crystal clear that if the Kings plan to contend the top players will need to perform....no top 6 or top 4 reinforcements on the horizon. Fire 'em up, Anze !!!

Don't be too disappointed when he's gone next year if not before then. Bring in the kids they'll play just as well if not better

Thats true. I just dont see Teddy helping LA and being a LA type player. Would have to assume hes slotting in next to Kopi and Gabby. It also cements the idea that Brown isnt gonna get a shot with Kopi. So we are set with Brown being a bottom 6 player with that contract. Because Teddy in the Bottom 6 is crap. We can sign many other more useful guys for those spots.

Brown does not deserve to see top 6 anymore... it's just that simple. I think that was the part of his talk with the staff regarding "learning his new role."

Yes. But him at the money hes making. If nobody has desire to get him to a 50 point player. And hes set to be a 3rd to 4th liner. Bite the bullet and buy him out. Its unreal for him to be here in his role of being useless. He makes the players around him worse. Hes not effective at anything anymore. If he still hit people and was a factor. Then id be more open to him playing a crap role in the bottom 6. But the dude isn't even a difference maker in hitting. His physical game is gone. And I don't think its because of wear and tear. I think its from being suspended. Now hes a female dog. We need him to step up. Play big. Hit people. Let them know your on the ice. And literally. He needs to stop holding onto the puck so long. Let the more talented people make plays. Once hes got the puck. He needs to pass it or dumb it in. Him holding onto the puck is just a turnover.

I think the coaching staff is going to try and micromanage his play style to try and retrain him to be a good hockey player. If it works, then there's no reason why he can't slot back in to the top six. Purcell is making bottom six money, so we're not overpaying for a third line guy if Brown works out.

If Brown craps the bed again, then Purcell can play in the top six.

I agree with all that but to buy him out doesn't make dollars or sense. It might be an option two more years into the contract, but right now the recapture makes him a cheaper-to-keep'er player...
Although I don't agree that his physical style has been hampered by suspensions or the threat of suspensions, I think it's all between the ears and in his chest. He doesn't have the heart to throw his body around the way he once did. He isn't hungry like that anymore. He's a comfortably paid veteran who's been to the top of the mountain and would like to have a little something left in the tank to coach his sons hockey teams when the curtain finally drops for him.
